This session has been designed to help professionals understand the impact of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and have a toolbox of ways to respond to situations and to know the next steps for assessment and safety planning.
Description
To gain an understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on those who experience it and the effect on their behaviours and choices
Recognise the additional needs of vulnerable groups
Consider how abuse is often a hidden problem
Recognise the importance of trauma informed principles
Gain an awareness of links between grooming and domestic abuse
Responding effectively to domestic abuse
Look at safety planning and other tools to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse
Signposting for support
Recognise the importance of looking after yourselves
Prerequisites
We advise attending L1 Domestic Abuse is Everybody's Business before this course.
